How to focus on the next economic boom.

There is a lot of doom and gloom about the current world economic and financial situation. And yes, some of the news is bad, real bad.

Why pray? The next boom will come. Get on with life.

Dwelling on the problems is not going to help us however. I wrote an article on my about positive thinking not being optional – you might like to pop over there and read that one after you have finished here. If you do, it might help you put this article into better perspective.

Personally, I see the current world economic and financial situation in a number of different ways, which include:

1) Lots of opportunities which were not present before – change always brings opportunities.

2) We have had busts before, granted – not many as bad as this, but we have had them. Booms will come back. We will have busts again. Boom and bust are part of a historical cycle which is likely to continue on into the future well beyond the end of our lifetimes.

3) I suspect that we are actually on the verge of the biggest boom in history – not right now perhaps, but probably not far off – in the medium term. My reasons? Simply speaking; never before in history have we had a situation where people from across the world, from all sorts of different nations and cultures, have been able to collaborate and communicate with each other so easily. In my view*, 100 years from now, schoolchildren will write about the “Internet Revolution”, as they will about the Agrarian and Industrial Revolutions. (*And that view is based on what has already happened so far, not on what I suspect is to come).

An underlying thread to all this of course, is that we are going through a massive change in all sorts of respects. It is so important to us as individuals and communities to be able to cope with change. Multitudes of people do not cope well with change and they are going to have to learn to. We are all going to need to get out of our comfort zones and release our creative power, becoming more “whole” in the process.

In summary then, I think it is far better to be concentrating on the opportunities that the current crisis presents, and also to be planning for the dramatic future changes in our lives, than to be moaning about the current situation. And in any case, we have lots that we can still be thankful for. We are far better off than many people, both present and in times past.

Are we all being robbed?

I expect that most of you will be only too aware of the financial crisis that is engulfing the world at the moment. Some perhaps may have seen someone going past the window on the way down. There is no doubt that a lot of people are suffering; many terribly.

What is really going on we might ask? And can we rely on the news media to bring us the real truth? Who, and what should we believe?

Today I came across a very interesting article that alludes to the current US financial situation. I quote from the email:

In 1942, German intelligence officers rounded up skilled Jewish prisoners and launched Operation Bernhardt, a clever scheme designed to counterfeit hundreds of millions of dollars worth of British Pounds and destroy the British economy by flooding it with counterfeit money. Located in the Sachsenhausen concentration camp, Operation Bernhardt was, even by modern standards, a runaway success that resulted in the creation of forged bank notes worth 132 million British Pounds.

Today, in America, the Federal Reserve is doing the exact same thing by flooding the U.S. economy with counterfeit dollars. But we’re not talking about a few hundred million dollars here: The Federal Reserve is engaged in an economic carpet bombing campaign involving the counterfeiting of TRILLIONS of dollars.
