Help with talking to your kids
The above bumper sticker says a lot about how we view young people, children; and of course – their attitudes.
Many people struggle with talking with their children.
Personally, I think that many problems we have with young people stem from how our society (the adult part) treats and regards them.
Many of us look down on children, even if only subconsciously. We tend not to value their opinion; instead, often being dismissive.
We see them as children instead of as people. Think about this carefully and you will realize that this is indeed very common in our culture.
When we start to think of children as people we will find it easier to respect them, rather than dismiss them. We will start to give them a ‘good name’ to live up to, instead of the negative views we have now.
You see, what we think has great power. We can project this power by the way we think of others. I won’t go into detail in this post however I simply suggest that you recall how much better you felt at something when someone believed in you.
