Humorous look at privacy online – The Google Toilet
Way back…last century…(yes, it is way back now, especially bearing in mind how far we have come in such a short time)….with my Private Eye hat on I used the Internet to find out things about people. It was surprising how much was out there – back then.
Today it is even ‘worse’. I laughed when I saw the video below….though it isn’t just Google that one has to be concerned about. And not even just the other ways your private information can be obtained.
What many people are unaware of is how even tiny fragments of information can assist a trained/skilled intelligence analyst in building a picture about YOUR life. Once, I caught a guy wanted by interstate State Police for serious offences partly because of a snippet of information about his daughter. (I was looking for him in connection with another State’s civil matter).
Anyway, have a look at the video below and think carefully about what you release online….or what others might release about you, sometimes unwittingly. Personally, I don’t stress about it (privacy) anymore…partly because I know that your privacy is really only as secure as the extent of someone else’s (interested party’s) bank account, or clout (think Octopus). Privacy laws tend to protect the bad guys, but only to an extent. The world is full of crap. The important thing is ensure that we are not part of it (the crap). What kind of people are we on the inside?
PS: I like Google. I’m a big fan.
