Welcome to my blog ~ What is a Black Shaman?
Hello! And a warm welcome to my blog.
Here you will find information about Shamans, Shamanism, shamanic practice, personal development, personal growth and yes; the answer to the question: “What is a Black Shaman?”
I realize that some people might think that a Black Shaman is something bad – something to do with black magic. That is not the case at all.
I quote from the Tengerism website:
Black Shaman Tradition
Black shamans are the most powerful of all the shamans and they get their power from the Northern direction. They are warrior shamans and overcome evil by battling might vs. might. They are the models of courage and discipline.
Historically, Black shamans had fulfilled roles in both times of peace and in times of war. In wartime, they boosted the soldiers’ morale and did ceremonies to help in battle. The power of the army was connected to the Black shamans, so these shamans were heavily recruited in times of war.Â
During times of peace, Black shamans served as advisors and conducted foreign policy by making peace and alliances. During the time of the Mongolian Empire, all treaties were ratified by shaman ceremonies.
Both historically and today, Black shamans do many other types of shamanic work. They do hunting rituals, healing work, protection, divination, and curse enemies. Black shamans have to be careful to stay in balance, for a shaman that curses too much, will lose their ability to heal and would become an outcast.
Shamanism is humanity’s original spirituality.
Accordingly, on this blog you will find key information about yourself. Because you are human, and shamanism is built right into your genes and your ‘essence’.
You may at times be shocked, however what you read will make logical sense.
The universe/cosmos/God is loving; and if understanding key truth were difficult, then that would not be loving would it?
I am a very spiritual and creative type person, however I am also very logical. A balance between left and right brain some might say. As you keep reading this blog you will see that what I have to say makes sense. And that it contains the keys to your freedom.

Your comparison to Warrior Shaman and Black Shaman caught my attention.
I served a traditional 8 year apprenticeship with my people and a two year journey to complete training. Later I was pierced in the chest (see picture on blueplanetshaman.com) and hung for the night to prove worthy to go on my Warrior journey which took me to fight in Central America for two years.
I’m curious what your people require you to do to be a Warrior Shaman.
Hello Shaman Hawk,

Your question, and the implications thereof, require a series of blog posts to do the answers justice. These, which were already planned, will follow in due course.
For those readers wanting a quick answer….
Participating in, benefiting from and practicing Shamanism is open to anyone. Indeed it is a birthright of the human race, Shamanism being humanity’s original spirituality. Our base physiology and psychology is ‘designed’ to be a ‘fit’ with Shamanism. (I will be writing more on this too).
Being a Shaman, as opposed to someone who simply participates in Shamanism, is something which in my view is only ideally undertaken with both the authority and calling of Spirit. The same goes for the type of Shaman. After all, reality is key; not one’s own opinion, or potentially misguided thinking.
My calling, initiation and learning commenced as long ago as 1985, though I did not initially realise what was starting. My journey has included an intense near death ‘initiation’ experience – which included a kind of looking into the abyss with a certain deep awareness that mentally I had no strength but that which comes from Spirit. I have been heavily involved in intense spiritual warfare.
In a sort of summary; I am aware that it is key to get as much of Spirit as possible and as little of me. A key to this is to have humble mindset and a desire to embrace truth, while not hanging on to one’s own opinion. Logically it makes perfect sense. Spirit knows best. Spirit exists. In a short while we will all pass from this life. We may as well start now.
Formulate and stamp indelibly on your mind a mental picture of yourself as succeeding. Hold this picture tenaciously. Never permit it to fade. Your mind will seek to develop the picture…Do not build up obstacles in your imagination.
Thank you for your comment Rabi, which I find pertinent and inspiring.
The link you posted did not work so it was removed.
Nice article and thanks for sharing here.
Quick and to the point. You’ll soon get those “comments” about you that are the indicators of how the public sees you.
I overheard what became my favorite comment about me at a gathering that went, “Just be careful. He has the power, and he will use it.”
It was in reference to negotiating my fee for defense.
